Villanovans
Villanovans were the ancestors of the Etruscans who lived in the northern and western portions of Italy during the Iron Age between 1000 BCE/BC and 700 BCE/BC.
Much is known about them through their extensive burial and grave sites. They were known to have created created intricate hut urns such as the terracotta from Tarquinia which is dated between the 9th and the 8th century BCE/BC. Archaeologists have been able to figure out that the urns are actually representative of houses during this time period. This means they may have cremated their dead which is different from the usual process of inhumation or burial in the ground.
The earliest structures found at Rome were located on the Palatine Hill which is in the center of Rome. Here there were holes found in the bedrock which were likely used as posts.
